Richard Libro of Buffalo Junction, Virginia, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026, at the age of 69 due to complications from smoke inhalation. Mr. Libro was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in April of 1956. A lifelong fisherman, clammer, and dock worker, he eventually retired from the sea and relocated to Virginia to be closer to family, enjoy a warmer climate and cultivate his many hobbies. Among those hobbies were bee keeping, canning fruits and vegetables, indulging in his love for trains, and caring for several rescued cats.
Mr. Libro is survived by his longtime companion, Robin French; his brother, Nick (Joe Horman) sisters, Marina Libro (Rebecca Brashears); and Sandi Libro-Beller (Jeff Beller, deceased). He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Angelina (Bertolino) Libro, and his wife, Lorraine (Bassiagani) Libro. He will also be fondly remembered by his paternal uncle, Vincent Libro, along with numerous cousins and friends.
For anyone wishing to make donations in Richard's honor, please consider Lake Country SPCA.
Funeral arrangements are being respectfully handled by Cremation Society of Virginia.
