David Matthew "Shaker" Hendrick, affectionately known to many as Matt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on April 4, 1976, in Virginia, Matt spent his life dedicated to those he loved and the work he was passionate about.
Matt was a valued member of the community, having devoted 30 years of his life to the profession of truck driving. His dedication to his work was surpassed only by his dedication to his family, which always remained his highest priority.
He is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Robin Reese Hendrick, and his cherished mother, Judith Edmonds Hendrick. Matt's legacy continues through his children, Kristy Jones and her partner Eric Hochstuhl, Patrick Jones, and Zachary Hendrick. He was a proud grandfather to Tristan "Conner", Karsity, Ella, and Jason Hochstuhl, and Damien "Bean" Jones, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Matt is also survived by his brother, Stephen Hendrick, and sister-in-law, Betty, as well as his nieces and nephews, Corbin, Katie, and Daniel Hendrick. His extended family includes numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends who will miss him dearly.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, David Hendrick.
A lover of life's simple pleasures, Matt could often be found grilling and feeding those around him, an act that brought him profound happiness. He was a talented jack of all trades and found peace and satisfaction working on his tractor.
In accordance with Matt's wishes, there will be no services held at this time. The Cremation Society of Virginia has respectfully handled the arrangements.
Matt's spirit and influence was far-reaching, touching not only his family and friends but everyone he met during his journeys across the country. His kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication will leave a lasting impact on all who knew him.
