Marshall "Peanut" Edward Taylor

Wylliesburg, Virginia lost a cherished member of its community with the passing of Marshall "Peanut" E. Taylor on Friday, September 25, 2026, just two days shy of his 75th birthday. Marshall was a beloved companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life was marked by love, dedication, and an enduring commitment to his family and craft.

Born on September 27, 1951, Marshall spent his life crafting homes and building dreams as a skilled carpenter. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and a passion for his work, he left a lasting legacy in every project he completed. His career was not just a job but a testament to his commitment and work ethic, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Peanut was employed by Spurlock’s Garage for 27 years having worked with Steven and Steven’s father Bobby. He helped to re-build the old Spurlock’s Garage on Hwy 15 in Wylliesburg and also helped build the current Body shop on Robertson Road right beside his residence. Peanut also worked in the construction field for many years.

Marshall was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Miller Taylor ,Bobby and Pam Lester, to whom he was a devoted son and a sister, Della Hatcher . He is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Jan Ferris, who stood by his side through life's many seasons. He was the proud father of Vincent Taylor (Kelly) and Tonya Oliver, whose lives he shaped with gentle guidance and unwavering support.

His spirit and values live on through his grandchildren: Jonathan Boggs (Leslie), Joshua Ellis (Kaitlin), Justice Rawlings (Terrel), and Darien Jenkins, and his cherished great-grandchildren: Skylar, Oakley, Terrel Rawlings Jr., Kaysen, and Christian. Marshall's home was always lively with the joy and laughter of his family, who remember him as a patriarch who cherished every moment spent with them.

Marshall is also survived by his siblings, David Lester, James "Tick" Taylor (Connie), and Wanda Bowers, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to celebrate his memory with fond stories of their times together. His adopted family: Steven and Amy Spurlock and their children Laci and Lance Spurlock. Special Friends Tony Bing, Bug Whitlow, Tim Burton, Bo Mosley and a host of others.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Virginia, Per Marshall’s wishes, we will not have a memorial or funeral service, but a more casual gathering of friends and family at the home of Steven and Amy Spurlock at 851 Robertson Road Wylliesburg, VA 23976 on Saturday, October 17th at 4:00 in the afternoon. All are invited to attend and share memories of Peanut.

Marshall Edward Taylor will be dearly missed, but his influence will continue to be felt and cherished by those who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will endure in the hearts of his family and friends as they carry forward the lessons he imparted to them.
