Judith Zajac, a beloved member of the Nathalie, VA community, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 4, 1946, in Bayonne, NJ, Judith was a spirited and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many, both human and animal alike.
Judith is remembered fondly by her sister, Eunice Caswell of Chapel Hill, NC, who will forever cherish the bond they shared. She is also survived by her three loving nieces: Pam Schwentner of Nathalie, VA, along with Christine Caswell and Kimberly Caswell, both of Chapel Hill, NC. Judith’s legacy will continue through the many stories and memories kept alive by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mabel Marshall, and her devoted spouse, Sonny Zajac. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
For over 50 years, Judith dedicated her career to dog grooming, showcasing her commitment to the care and affection she held for animals. Her passion extended beyond her profession, as she was deeply involved in showing horses, dogs, and mules at various events. In 2025, one of her proudest achievements was showing her beloved dog, "Zor," to his UKC Championship.
Judith had a special love for all animals, particularly horses, minis, ponies, mules, and donkeys, whose companionship brought immense joy to her life.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 19th at 1 PM on the family farm in Nathalie, VA, where friends and family will gather to remember the brightness she brought into the world.
In lieu of flowers, Judith’s family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to the Blue Horse Mukwa Equine Retirement & Rescue Center. Judith Zajac’s incredible life and love for animals have left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her enduring spirit, kindness, and dedication will forever be remembered and celebrated.
