Beverly Kay Settles Tickle, 85, of Danville, VA, went home to be with her Lord on November 26, 2025. She was born in Steubenville, OH, on February 22, 1940, and lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and devotion to those she loved.
Beverly was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Earl and Blanche (Taylor) Settles; her husband, Leo Tickle Sr.; her sisters, Shirley Kessinger, Nancy Lantier, and Carolyn Everhart; and her brothers-in-law, William Kessinger, Bill Everhart, and Gary Stanley. What a joyful reunion they must now share.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include her sister, Mary Lou Stanley of Steubenville, OH, and her brother-in-law, John Lantier of Newbern, NC. Beverly’s heart belonged to her four sons, each of whom she loved deeply: Kenneth (Lisa) Tickle of Keeling, VA; Cary Tickle of Danville, VA; Henry (Jeri) Tickle of Maryville, TN; and Brian (Becky) Tickle of Chatham, VA. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren—Eric Tickle, Ashlyn (Chris) Evans, Victoria (Matt) Bass, Bradley (Hannah) Tickle, Montana Tickle, and Zachary Tickle—and found great joy in her six great-grandchildren: Oliver Tickle, Avery Tickle, Shelby Rae Bass, Afton Bass, Berkleigh Bass, and Tallulah Bass. Beverly also treasured her many nieces and nephews, each one holding a special place in her heart.
A faithful member of Community Baptist Church in Danville, Beverly lived out her Christian walk with kindness, grace, and a caring spirit that touched everyone around her. She dearly loved her dog, Charles, whose constant companionship brought her comfort and joy. Beverly accepted Christ as her Savior in 1961 while watching Billy Graham on television—a moment that forever changed her life. Inside her Bible she wrote, “I want to lead my children to God,” and she spent her life lovingly, faithfully living out that prayer.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Beverly’s life on December 20, 2025, at Open Bible Baptist Church, 20669 US-29, Chatham, VA 24531. Visitation will be from 9:00–11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
Though she is no longer with us, Beverly’s caring spirit, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family will remain forever in our hearts.
